Description

Who would not love receiving quality food at an affordable price that comes with a bonus—no cooking required of you?

It can be a reality with Knife's Edge Private Chef and Catering. Chef/owner Carrie L. Knife works with you to choose a menu, after which she handles the preparation, cooking, heating, serving, and cleanup. You relax and focus on your guests and event.

While operating Knife’s Edge Cafe’ in the Bob Hope Village Commons at the Air Force Enlisted Village (AFEV) in Shalimar is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, Carrie also offers private catering via Knife's Edge Private Chef and Catering, LLC, a company she formed in March of 2019 to help customers seeking help coordinating, planning, and providing good food for their events.

In addition to the Shalimar area, Knife's Edge Private Chef and Catering, LLC services customers in Destin, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Crestview and Navarre, and other locations. For example, the company creates corporate and military group lunches and is listed in the Directory for Armed Forces Procurement. Destination weddings and events also benefit from her skills in creating private chef dinners.

Besides her food and event planning skills, Carrie is a devout believer in providing personalized and tailored communication with each customer to understand their vision, ensuring a single personal point of contact from the initial consultation to working through the contract, and, finally, running the event. This attention to detail and “owning” the delivery sets her apart. Less is more, Carrie says, less quantity but better quality and appealing presentations—the secrets to a great event.

Growing up working and learning in the kitchen with her mother, a time Carrie especially cherishes, she began learning about the food and beverage industry in high school. That led her to work in restaurants after school. Unsure about the ability to establish a career in it, Carrie transitioned into the corporate world but continued using her food skills to entertain on her own and an eventual moonlighting stint with a professional chef to expand her knowledge.

Realizing the kitchen is where her heart really lies, Carrie opened Knife’s Edge Catering and Specialty Cuisine in 2019 at the AFEV and now has five regular employees and skilled catering staff.

Carrie loves the Emerald Coast, citing the residents as awesome. Although many come from all over the world, we all choose to live here, at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, she says and praises how everyone cares for each other.

Knife's Edge Private Chef and Catering, LLC has received numerous awards, such as the Destin Shrimp and Grits Festival Overall Best (3 years running), Scarlett Magazine’s “Women of the Year: The Chef for 2022”, 2021 Finest Caterer on the Emerald Coast by the readers of the NW Florida Daily News, and 2nd place for People's Choice 2021 in Destin’s Bourbon, Burgers and Beer Festival.

Carrie is a huge supporter of the National MS Society and gives back to the community she loves.  She has participated in five 50-mile Challenge MS walk events and participated in local walks, doing so in memory of her mother.  She and her company also contribute to and assist with numerous AFEV and Victory Village events. She even made a salad once for Sebastian the tortoise at the Emerald Coast Science Center.
